Presenting ongoing work at Microbiology Society Conference 2024

I am a third year MRC DTP PhD Student at Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine. As a member of the Adam Roberts Antimicrobial chemotherapy and resistance Laboratory, my research interest lies in the intracellular transposition of antimicrobial resistance genes and associated mobile genetic elements.

My project collaborates with the probiotic clinical trial, ProRIDE, which is interested in the effects of probiotics in reducing mortality and ESBL-Enterobacteriaceae carriage among Tanzanian neonates. I apply bioinformatical and laboratory approaches alongside an in-house entrapment vector, pBACpAK, to investigate the AMR landscape of this setting, the genomic contexts of mobile genetic elements and their patterns of transposition.

This blog is a documentation of my learning process in understanding current literature and improving my expertise.

Outside of research, I am the PhD Student Representative at LSTM and member of various Committees and Boards. I am also a Ballroom and Latin dancer, a tunnel-visioned football player, and an aspiring swimmer.
